|   Ashton Mountain Biking Route |
The scenic attractions on this route include a dam rich with bird life and about 10km (6 miles) from the start, Rhebok are regularly seen in the early morning and late afternoon. Please close gates and watch out for lorries and tractors in the fruit season.
Description of the route:

Start at the Tourism Bureau, at the Municipal Offices in Main Road (next to the steam train). |

Head towards Montagu on the R60 for 300 metres. |

Turn left onto the gravel road and stay on this main gravel road for 1.5km. |

Then turn left onto the gravel track, passing a small pump station, before joining a broad gravel road after another 400 metres. |

Turn right. After 2km turn left and go through a farm gate with three metal discs on it. |

You are now on the Wildeperdehoek Road. Stay on this for 4.8km and enjoy the stunning views to the right and left. |

Then turn left onto the Klaasvoogds Oos Road. Turn left after another 600 metres. |

Cycle along this road and then turn left again after 2.1km. |

Some 300 metres thereafter turn left again and head down the Klaasvoogds Wes Road for 2.8km where you will join the R60. |

Turn left and 2km further, left again, to join up once more with the Klaasvoogds Oos Road. |

3 km further turn right onto the Marthinusvlei Road. |

|
5.5km (and two gates and cattle grids later) cross the R60 and follow the tar road past Zandvliet for 3.1km when you will rejoin the R60. |

|
Turn right and 700 metres later you will be back at the Tourism Bureau. |
